Hi everyone! This is a step-by-step process of my crazy book for class.

Get out some paper, one will be your pages and the other one will be the cover.

Please fold the paper into 16 equal parts, make sure you fold it both ways so the book can stay flexible.

Cut the paper in a spiral like so

Fold it on itself, like an accordion.

Put two pieces of hard paper on the backside of your selecter cover, and cut it accordingly, leaving about half an inch on both sides of the hard paper

Start folding in all the corners

Then glue them down. including the spaces in between the corners

Should look something like this

Fold down and glue all of the edges neatly on both pieces.

Flip the backside piece over and put a foot-long string over it. The next step will be glueing down the pages from previous steps.

Carefully match the cover so it is ligned up to the back, and glue the remaining page to it.

Tie the ribbon, the back of the book should be 'hugging' the front.

These were the books that the rest of the class has done! Very pretty.

This is my drawing that I put into my book. I decided that I wanted my drawing to reflect the identities I must negotiated as a teacher. I decided to draw the four characters I identify as, but the characters also possess parts of intersectionality I wish my teachers saw in me. For example, the drawing of the character in traditional clothing, she is also wearing sporty trendy bottoms and shoes, as to say, I am proud of my culture, but I am also a modern day girl. Another example, is I'm an artist, a person of color, but I am still an American.
